About First Strike Karate Club

First Strike Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing Club was established on the 12th June 2001, by Instructor Anthony Evans. Anthony began Martial Art training in 1990 and has trained in various Martial Arts such as Wado ryu, Shotokan, Traditional Karate, Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing.

He is a 1st DAN in Shotokan and a 3rd DAN in Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing.
The club is affiliated with United Kingdom Contact Karate and Kickboxing which is run by Mr Alan Lufflum, President who’s Headquarters are based in Staffordshire with Anthony being the Welsh Representative.

The Club has 60+ members, there are 6 classes held per week, which range from juniors, Mixed Seniors and a Ladies only Class. The club has currently 7 other Blackbelts, Kelly Mainwaring 3rd DAN (World Champion), Beverley Mainwaring 2nd DAN (Triple Silver Medallist) Mike Stokes, Dean Lewis, Ian Williams, Lewis Thomas and Rob Shields 1st DAN’s who also Instruct in the Club.

The Club has also an excellent fighting Squad who travel throughout Wales and England, competing in Points fighting, Continuous Fighting and Full Contact Fighting
First Strike also supports Red Dragon Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing Club based in Ystradgynlais, run by Kelly and Beverley Mainwaring which between both Clubs forms the U.K.C.K. Welsh Kickboxing Team.

The club is kited out with all Martial Arts Equipment from punch bags, kick shields, focus mitts, body armour breaking boards, training knives and ground work area.
The club also has a brilliant social side thoughout the seasons and there’s usually any excuse to have a club get together!
